Say UPTOWN NO
to "Uptown NY"!!!

This website is still under construction.

Shortly, it will contain a large and growing number of reasons why the survival of Harlem and East Harlem communities demands that the monstrosity called "Uptown NY" must be stopped.

For now, in summary, we will simply say "Protest UPTOWN NY, a monster eminent domain abuse corporate developer land grab and community destroyer!" Rally on Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at 5pm, at the Julia de Burgos Cultural Center, 1680 Lexington Avenue (corner of 106th Street), and after that, come inside to participate in public hearings about "Uptown NY". We hope to see many people coming to life there, voicing viewpoints. (More details, click HERE).

In coming days, we will present information about upcoming activities and other suggestions about WHAT YOU CAN DO to defeat "Uptown NY," and what promises to be a large and growing list of organizations and individuals, uniting to make sure that Uptown NY will not happen.

Instead, we will fight for housing affordable to average Harlem and East Harlem residents, along with education, health care, transportation, environmental, legal, child care, firefighting, police and other services, performed in a way that satisfies our individual human needs, including community relations and diverse culture, so that no one feels left out.
